Performance Prep for the Double Hump Heads
too much background noise for me to endure sorry.
Looks like I'm late to this video, but in time for your retirement part. This is exactly what I want to do to a set of 94 LT1 exhaust manifolds for replacing a pair of "logs," so I'm disappointed for myself that you're not doing this anymore, but happy for you that you've been able to retire. Enjoy life retired!
Could make great st/strip heads, noone will ever feel the weight difference. Got no problem running iron heads these days, bout as good as anything else just less
Who are you? Are you summit raceing or are you just called iron heads?
Thank you for the information , Best of luck moving forward
Congratulations and best wishes..
Will there be a YT channel from the new pro ?
One month later and no answer means, well... not a good sign.
Charles Servedio has come op with a highly modified 193 TBI small block Chevy head. Its very impressive. It would be great if you could do a cnc program.
Love to hear this!!! You've done a great job over 40 years I'm sure and a textbook job in turning the business over and preserving the knowledge. Enjoy retirement!!! I'll be bringing my 462 angle plug heads to the new shop in a couple years.
Thank you for the good information and thank your government for all the disasters of every business.
Currently helping my dad go through and refresh the 327 in his 62 corvette that i helped him build when I was 6, I was a fully balanced steel crank 327 461x heads duntov cam, now we’re going to a little larger hydraulic roller cam and using speedways new double hump vintage look aluminum heads should be around 400-410 hp and a blast in a light c1 vette with 4.11 gear and a Muncie transmission
Best heads intake cam we ever ran !!!
What can you do for 221 and 260 SBF?
Do you buy iron cylinder head from china
they went backwards into an 'ole bathtub' design chamber. Authentic like a near factory mimic.
Hey cast heads! What is the best head i should get for most torque and horsepower.? IMCA EQ heads from speedway or dart? Or a different dart head? Unlimited just want a sleeper look. Also aluminum double humps or what about DNA heads to port and replace guides and use bigger valves etc.? RHS race rites?
How do you identify a aftermarket cast iron angle plug 2.05 intake valve real small chamber and there no markings on the heads
With no casting markings on the heads all you can do is have the intake ports cc'ed to find out their size. Same with the combustion chambers; have them checked for size.
Probably 60cc roughly, always CC to check and make sure though they could be from a bare configuration that was available for pro head porters they were 48cc in some cases.
Sorry to see this. Very experienced and talented men like yourself are next to impossible to replace. Retirement is good but a real big change to get used to. I stopped working last July ….76 and was an engine guy myself and still do an occasional engine. You have quite a well equipped shop. Hate to see those lights go off! 😩
Look forward to your future content 🙂
Thank you for the videos grateful for you sharing information Good to hear you will still continue the channel etc enjoy taking things easy there
Enjoyed your channel, was never your target market audience though. All the best to you.
I am glad to hear you'll continue the channel. Very long and great career, best of luck entering retirement.
Always great information. Thank you Sir!
When you talk about plugging off the coolant holes, Where can i find that tap kit? ive searched for an irontite one and can find anything. thanks
407-5302-35 is the tap part number and 401-2102-35 is the plug part number. We don't drill the holes bigger in the head. Lots of tapping fluid and just let the tap do its thing, BUT do not run the tap all the way in. It will make the hole to big. We use red loctite on the plugs. The tops should snap off when they are tight. then when you're done take a clean up cut on the deck to make sur everything is nice and flat.
Thank you very much! @@BrzezinskiRacingProducts
My 351 e7 exhaust ports flowed 180cfm but having troubles getting my intakes up im gonna try raising the ports with epoxy
GM put a good bit of R&D into these intakes. You can't beat them from idle to 3500. If you do to them what these guys do and what I've seen in Vizard's induction book you could really surprise a lot of folks.
Have a 788# looks the same
I bought a set back in 1987 for a 67 327 that the heads were shot.
You mentioned a cast iron head shootout in October. Are you still on track with this video?
Half a hole awry!!! Is it because of American or Chinese precision.
The heads were milled to raise compression. The block might have been decked too. That would throw off the intake alignment. Brzezinski machines heads for racing and modifies intakes for optimum fit.
@@Spiritof_76 Got it. 👍
YOU HAVE THE COMMENTS TURNED OFF ON THE DOUBLE HUMP HEADS VIDEOS YOU MADE. HERE IS SOMETHING VERY INTERESTING. A 351 WINDSOR HEAD FROM 69-70 FROM GRANDMA'S STATION WAGON WITH A 2 BARREL CARBURATOR (ON THE INTAKE SIDE ONLY) IN STOCK FORM. A NONE RACE ORIENTATED HEAD WITH SMALLER VALVES AND INTAKE RUNNERS, FLOWED JUST AS GOOD AS CHEVY'S BEST HEAD THE FUELIE 2.02. THAT'S HOW FAR AHEAD FORD WAS THAN CHEVY IN ENGINEERING. THAT IS INCREDIBLE AND THE REASON WHY GM/CHEVY TOOK THE WINDSOR DESIGN AS THE FOUNDATION FOR THE CHEVY LS HEAD TODAY. BY JUST INCREASING THE SIZE OF THE VALVES AND RUNNERS AND TO THE STRAIGHTER FORD VALVES DESIGN FROM A 20 TO A 18 DEGREE VALVE ANGLE. AS FOR THE EXHAUST PORTS FOR BOTH THE CHEVY AND FORD THEY ARE BOTH A STRAIGHT SHOTS OUT AND THE FORD COULD BE PORTED TO FLOW JUST AS GOOD AS THE FUELIE.
World Products message me back and said they had no plans to stop the cast iron cylinder head line for small block Chevys. The 200 sportsman’s and the 220 Motown’s still show available. Dart scrapped the tooling for their cast iron heads early this years.
My favorite theme is making stock parts faster!
Hi I have a set of bowtie heads pn 10051101 and a bowtie intake pn 1005103 after installing the heads we tryed installing the intake and it only lines up on one side. Any help would be much appreciated. It has me completely stumped
What would be a close total ignition timing to start with on the bow tie vortec head? It’s my understanding the “ fast burn” requires a lower degree? Would too high of a degree result in a long term climbing ECT ??
Once sold a friend a set of fuelly heads, and a few months later he wanted his money back because he had decided he was going to buy SR Torquer heads. So I gave him his money back. He put the Torquers on a 400 motor for a 85 Camaro. It never ran very well.
What spark plug is used when swapping a gt40p head on a 289ci
what type of port sizing do you use for the exhaust size?
351W : 1.200” wide x 1.400” tall 289: 1.200” x 1.350” tall.
@@BrzezinskiRacingProducts thank you!
@cast heads is there a specific gasket you have found reliable for the application?
I like Fuelly heads. Have a pair now I'm going to put on a mild 350 motor I'm building for a street car. I think I paid too much for them. They are off of a 68 Camaro motor. They already have 2.02, 1.60 valves and are in great shape with low miles. I paid $100 for them. In your opinion what are they worth?
Give these dudes a grand for shitty heads and they will make a bit more power
Got it relook at your video . Thank you.
What would be some of the casting number chevy and Ford or any of 2 and 4 barrell ? . Like you channel and all the good information you provide.
Friday, April 28, 2023 John, We are looking to purchase back Chevy Small Block cast iron 2 barrel ported Stage 1 intakes and acid ported 4 barrel Q-Jet EGR manifolds. Do you think you have one of these intakes? Randy Brzezinski
Sorry no I dont but il keep looking.
@@BrzezinskiRacingProducts I do have a set of 1968 double hump heads non asessrey holes been fully redone and check for cracks new double springs and retainer clips and screw in studs 2.02 160 5.50 lift and drill for steams holes like to for same types with steam holes drill maybe 186 heads with assessrey holes would all be interested ?
Like to trade
@@BrzezinskiRacingProducts the double hump heads are 462s
Best heads and intake a man can run !!
The phase 2 bow tie heads from the 90s have 190cc intakes not the 170cc you indicated in your latest video. I have the catalog from that time.
Awesome
I can understand using them for class racing.... but you said it's 4 hours of machine time and not for the faint of heart costwise... to get 150cc intake ports that barelly crack 200CFM? Why wouldn't people just buy an AFR head...
He said it was to maintain the look of stock heads. I'm personally going with AFR.
It is easy to be critical of “flow numbers” and “CFM” of the factory cylinder heads. As a Ford racer 90 percent of local circle race tracks will not allow the Cleveland head for class racing. GM made NOTHING remotely close to the flow rates of the Cleveland until 2004. Sad. So… The GT40 head is a decent flowing head if one knows how to port and understand enshrouding. I build road race and circle track motors of Class racing and do very well. In fact because of the horrendous GM castings reliability is much better than any GM unit. Making 420+ hp with GT40p heads is not difficult if one has the experience of working with these heads. I built a 289 making 396hp with a cam swap through an Autolite factory 4 barrel carburetor under NHRA Super Stock rules. This is with FACTORY valves. There is a lot of head work, port matching, Jesel valve train etc. And the price for making Super Stock power is about the same for a Ford Or Chevrolet. The biggest factors are the class rules. More rules equals more cost to the racer. An unfortunate fact that does not get mentioned when comparing costs between Ford and Chevrolet. Racing throughout the years sanctioning bodies has always favored Chevrolet.
i know this an older video. I am building a stock eliminator 305 and needed to see how to align the ports to the head.
I wanna 305 hp 305. Totally streetable and twice the power.
I have 034 Bow tie heads I got new but after going to work on them they look like they were slapped together in 3 layers and it was ugly looking and not smooth but looks like air flow might be disrupted.I’m wondering if you know of something like epoxy of some kind or something I could use to smooth it out
